Greswolde Construction ends Nailcote Hall's 16-year wait for expansion
A BIG WELCOME FOR GRESWOLDE TEAM
GRESWOLDE builders got a very big welcome when they arrived to start work on two crucial projects at Berkswell’s historic Nailcote Hall, because it was a ground-breaking moment for proprietor Rick Cressman.
Rick, who rescued the hotel from receivership 23 years ago, always planned to add 10 guest bedrooms to the 20 he built to help turn the business around. But it has taken him 16 years to get there.
“My original plan was turned down at appeal, and it has been a very long wait to get to this point, where I can finish the job I started,” he says.
“This development means so much to Nailcote and the area. It will mean that we can generate enough income to ensure my legacy will be a strong, profitable business, with a fabulous reputation and a great golf course.”
Fellow Solhull-based business Greswolde is also building a very welcome addition to Rick’s original plans for the hotel, golf and country club - a striking pavilion-style clubhouse for the British Par 3 Championship Cromwell Course, which will also enhance 17th century Nailcote Hall’s corporate facilities.
With his expansion plans on hold, he put his energies into creating the course and relaunching a headline-making competition. Footballing legends Sir Alex Ferguson and Peter Schmeichel are among the celebrities taking part in this year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship on August 5-8.
“It has taken a great deal of investment, but it is now the best par 3 course in Europe and in the world’s top ten, and its success means we can now add the much needed clubhouse,” adds Rick.
He paid tribute to the Greswolde team, who are working behind screens in the busy hotel’s grounds and are expert at keeping disruption to a minimum. “We are used to working on presigious sites, and are delighted to be at Nailcote Hall on a project that will make such an impact,” adds Greswolde MD Malcolm Priest.
